The new HEART of the BEACHES is about to be born!
A captivating new Masterplan for The Palms Collection was unveiled in Cairns today. The multi-faceted development has a little bit of something for everybody.
The Palms Collection will deliver hundreds of jobs during construction and more upon completion, as well as inject $34 million into the local economy each year with over 95,000 new visitors to Cairns expected to travel to immerse themselves in the new tourist attraction.
The proposed Masterplan is expected to be the first enviro development™ in the region, merging the latest in sustainable environmental management practices to create one of the most liveable communities in Australia.
Proponents, PPNQ Developments Pty Ltd, say they are committed to making the large span of 85 acres of open space available to everybody with an emphasis on community and connection and the creation of a space where locals gather and enjoy the natural surroundings, while taking in the many entertaining facilities that will be on offer.
“As a local father of four young children, I know how important family friendly attractions are. The Palms offers everything from meeting places in cafes, restaurants and bars, to kilometres of walking and cycling trails. And children will be in wonderland with the magnificent waterpark and adventure playground we have designed. It is sure to give great joy for many generations to come.
“There will be a caravan park and motor home precinct, short stay villas available for visitors to the area and locals wanting to take advantage of mini staycations, as well as large sized residential lots for those wanting to build their dream home and live permanently on site while taking advantage of all the facilities at their fingertips,” said Managing Director of PPNQ Developments Pty Ltd, Darren Halpin.
There’s even a new school planned with announcements expected in coming weeks.
“We really have tried to think of everybody with this latest masterplan and take on board over eighteen months’ worth of community feedback. We have got out into the community and we have listened,” said Darren Halpin.
The Development Application is currently before Cairns Regional Council and is expected to be voted on by the end of October 2020. If approved in October construction is expected to commence in early 2021.
“Let’s give the people of Cairns something to look forward to despite the tough economic times. What’s not to like about jobs, economic growth, an environmental showcase of our stunning surroundings and one of the best tourist and waterpark attractions this city has ever seen?,” said Mr Halpin.
And to those who still have their heart set on the golf course remaining, Mr Halpin says there are still plenty of great golf courses in FNQ, in fact there are 21 still remaining, but sadly golf at Paradise Palms is finished!
“It’s been a tough slog and we’ve tried many different ways to make this site work as a golf course with some of the best in the world advising us on what to do, but the fact of the matter is, it just doesn’t work, it loses money hand over fist and there are just not the numbers of visiting golfers to sustain its operation. The golf course won’t ever be opened again, and unfortunately while that’s hard to accept for some, in time, we are hopeful that they will see what a huge benefit this will be to not only them but the many other residents in FNQ. They might not be able to play golf here anymore, but they will be able to do so much more under the new Masterplan.
“We are local and ready to get started. This is no pie in the sky idea, this project is shovel ready. We just need the people of Cairns to let Council know they want it, so we can get the approvals in place to commence work and get this exciting project underway,” said Mr Halpin.
A display centre in the Paradise Palms Clubhouse and a series of shopping centre pop up stations will take place over the coming weeks to share all the details of the project with locals. “We encourage everyone to come out and chat to us and see what we have in store. We know that when they see the plans with their own eyes, they will be just as excited as we are,” he said.
All times, dates and locations will be published on The Palms Collection Facebook and Instagram pages.
