New Catholic Primary School Confirmed For Northern Beaches

The new HEART of the NORTHERN BEACHES just got a whole lot more exciting with the announcement today of a new Catholic primary school to be built at The Palms Collection site.

PPNQ Developments Pty Ltd can confirm that the Catholic Diocese of Cairns has entered into a contract with them  to acquire the parcel of land identified on the new Masterplan as being allocated for a school.  A Development Application for the school will be submitted to Cairns Regional Council in the near future.

PPNQ Developments Managing Director, Darren Halpin, confirmed that the site was already appropriately zoned to accommodate a school and service the growing population of children on the northern beaches.

“We have been working with the Diocese for some time, and it’s great news to have them on board. Obviously we are hopeful Cairns Regional Council gives the entire Palms Collection Masterplan the green light when it goes to the Council vote very soon, and we know the majority of Cairns residents feel the same.  We have received overwhelming positive feedback from the community since revealing our new Masterplan last month.  We have had no end of support from local residents from all over FNQ.  They have come through in droves to our Information Centre at the Paradise Palms Clubhouse, and also at all of our pop-up stations we are holding in the local shopping centres.  It is really heartening to see locals as excited about the project as we are!

“We are imploring Cairns Regional Councillors to listen to the majority and bring this magnificent $300+ million development to fruition for future generations to enjoy.  We are local, we are ready to start and this will create more than 300 jobs, all we need is the development’s approval from Council,” said Darren Halpin.

Mr Halpin says once approval of the Development Application is received, construction will commence by early-mid 2021, providing much needed jobs, economic growth, new tourist attractions and wide open community spaces for all to enjoy.

The multi-faceted development has a little bit of something for everybody.  The Palms Collection will deliver hundreds of jobs during construction and more upon completion, as well as inject $34 million into the local economy each year with over 95,000 new visitors to Cairns expected to travel to immerse themselves in the new tourist attraction.

The proposed new Masterplan is expected to be the first enviro development in the region, merging the latest in sustainable environmental management practices to create one of the most liveable communities in Australia.

PPNQ Development proponents say they are committed to making the large span of 85 acres of open space available to everybody with an emphasis on community and connection and the creation of a space where locals gather and enjoy the natural surroundings, while taking in the many entertaining facilities that will be on offer.

“As a local family we know how important family friendly attractions are.  The Palms offers everything from meeting places in cafes, restaurants and bars, to kilometres of walking and cycling trails.  And children will be in wonderland with the magnificent waterpark and adventure playground we have designed.  It is sure to bring a lot of joy for everyone.

“There will be a caravan park and motor home precinct, short stay villas available for visitors to the area and locals wanting to take advantage of mini staycations, as well as large sized residential lots for those wanting to build their dream home and live permanently on site while taking advantage of all the facilities at their fingertips,” said Mr Halpin.

“We really have tried to think of everybody with this latest masterplan and take on board over eighteen months’ worth of community feedback.  We have got out into the community and we have listened,” he said.
