Court Rules In The Palms Favour

Stage 1 of The Palms Collection $300+ Million development is set to commence in early October 2021 following the Planning & Environment Court ruling in the land owners favour with a sealed judgement.

PPNQ Developments Pty Ltd Directors Darren Halpin and Evan Yelavich are very excited to be able to progress the regionally significant Masterplanned community unhindered.  “Even though we expected this result, it’s great to be able to finally commence work on the project and deliver an amazing product for the Cairns community and the drive tourism market” said Managing Director, Darren Halpin.

“It’s been a costly three-year process to get to this point.  It is something that we believed in for our region and we weren’t going to let anything stand in the way of what we know will be an iconic project for the city that we can all be proud of for many generations to come.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single local across Cairns and the surrounding suburbs for throwing their support behind the project to date and making their voices heard to the authorities through emails, letters and social media posts.  We wouldn’t be where we are today without your support.

“I think it’s obvious to the majority of people that this region is in desperate need of new tourism products and facilities that will create some excitement for us all and something to look forward to.  We know through our extensive public consultation process that locals in particular with children and grandchildren can’t wait to see the two hectare Waterpark facility built.  My kids join with them in their excitement.  It’s what our region needs right now.”

The Palms developments’, Enclave One, will consist of 87 blocks of land surrounded by lush vegetation and a large multi-use Amphitheatre, parklands and community facilities.  Stage 1 will consist of 40 lots and Stage 2 will follow soon after with a further 47 blocks, all forming part of a Renewable Energy Precinct in the Far North’s very first EnviroDevelopment®.

Upon completion The Palms Collection is expected to generate an ongoing economic injection into the city of $34 Million per annum and attract an additional 95,000 visitors per year.  “It’s the shot in the arm the tourism industry is crying out for as the focus moves to domestic travel in the wake of restricted international travel.  COVID has accelerated people’s desire to holiday at home,” said Mr Halpin.

“We know more and more homeowners are becoming environmentally conscious and searching for sustainable solutions not just in regards to energy, but also the materials that go into building their homes and the functional aspects of daily life.  We have tight, but reasonable building covenants on the residential estate to ensure a quality development is delivered for the people of the Northern Beaches.  This is about decent sized blocks, community focussed facilities and providing a tranquil environment for those who are fortunate enough to call The Palms home,” said Director, Evan Yelavich.
